These tickets for the Pena Palace in Sintra will mark a turning point in your perception of the area. As soon as you arrive, you’ll be struck by the originality of a palace that was originally a 16th-century monastery and which Ferdinand II converted into his private fortress.

It is a palace that perfectly blends Romantic, Renaissance, Manueline and Arabic styles, resulting in a truly fascinating tourist attraction. It is not for nothing that this place is known as ‘the jewel of the Sintra region’.

It also boasts 200 hectares of gardens, renowned for their exotic flora and meandering streams. These were created by taking advantage of the area’s humid climate, which was ideal for the coexistence of 500 species of trees from all over the world.

The ticket also includes access to the Countess of Edla’s chalet. This hidden chalet has a mysterious story to tell, which you can discover very close to the palace. Transport between the palace and the chalet is included.

Pena Palace is about a 45-minute walk from the centre of Sintra; you can also get there by bus from the railway station. Please note that you cannot drive to the palace; a paid shuttle service runs every 15 minutes, taking visitors from the park entrance to the palace. Depending on the availability of this service, you may include it when booking these tickets.

I heard in the past that this palace had been a monastery, I was a bit sad because it really is a beautiful place for a spiritual retreat. It is surrounded by a splendid and versatile nature. It is still a fantastic palace!

The palace is worth a visit, it is very beautiful. The whole palace is rather exotic. There is a versatility of styles, designs and colours. It is a well-made building, well put together, with taste and an ambitious sense of art. I praise the taste of Ferdinand II.
