Step by Step

The tour starts in the centre of Prague, in front of the Rudolfinum building, from where you will depart for Terezín accompanied by an English-speaking assistant. On the way you can listen to an online multilingual audio guide on your mobile phone, with information about the history of the Czech lands, the Jewish community in the country and the role of Terezín during the Nazi occupation.

Once at your destination, you will visit the Small Fortress of Terezín, the area most associated with repression and political imprisonment within the complex. There you will take a guided tour of approximately 1 hour, exploring the former camp, the barracks and other spaces that help to understand how this garrison town changed radically when it was converted into a camp by the Nazis.

Throughout the tour you will learn about the real stories and historical context surrounding Theresienstadt, the name imposed by the Nazi regime, as well as the arrival of the first transports of Jews in November 1941. This is a particularly powerful experience for those who wish to delve deeper into the memory of the Holocaust and gain a better understanding of one of its most significant sites in Central Europe.

After the tour you will return to Prague by the included transport. Thanks to its half-day format, this tour allows you to get close to a place of enormous historical importance without having to make your own arrangements for travel, entrance fees or prior context.

The visit to the Terezin concentration camp was incredibly moving and informative, but the journey to and from Prague was a bit long.
