Step by Step
A trip to Meteora from Athens is one of the most breathtaking experiences you can have in the country. Built by monks atop towering rock pillars, these monasteries defy logic and offer some of the most breathtaking scenery in Europe.
The adventure starts early in the morning at Athens train station, where you'll board a coach with free Wi-Fi for Kalabaka. There you will be met by a VIP minibus for a guided tour of the area, accompanied by a local guide who will explain the history, symbolism and legends of Meteora.
The tour includes views of the six monasteries of Meteora and historical and spiritual explanations by a local guide, who will help you understand the cultural and religious significance of this exceptional site.During the tour you will have access to the interior of 1, 2 or 3 of the six monasteries: Great Meteora, Varlaam, Rousanou, St. Nicholas, St. Stephen and Holy Trinity, depending on the selected option and opening days. The guide is not allowed to accompany visitors inside the monasteries, so the interior tour is conducted independently.
After a day full of unique landscapes and fascinating stories, you will return to Athens with time to reflect on one of mankind's greatest architectural and spiritual achievements.
