Step by Step

Discover one of the world’s most significant volcanic regions on a half-day hike to the Meradalir volcano from Reykjavík, taking place in the afternoon and evening.

Upon arrival at your destination, you’ll be accompanied by a local guide who’ll introduce you to the history of the area’s volcanoes, hot springs and other natural wonders such as:

  • Lake Kleifarvatn: this is the largest and one of the deepest lakes on the Reykjanes Peninsula. It covers an area of around 9 square kilometres and is 97 metres deep.
  • Fagradalsfjall Volcano: you’ll walk for 2 to 4 hours through the mountains and across the lava fields and moss-covered terrain leading up to the volcano. The routes may vary depending on the volcano’s activity.
  • Reykjanes Peninsula: you’ll discover green-water lakes and the region’s various volcanic crater areas, which offer a memorable natural landscape.
  • Krysuvik Geothermal Area: an area surrounded by volcanic vents and hot springs, with a landscape of hills in various shades. Here you’ll find Seltún Hot Springs, a beautiful natural thermal spring.

Return transport from selected locations in Reykjavík will be provided by a comfortable, air-conditioned minibus, ensuring you travel in comfort from the start to the end of your experience.
