How much does it cost to buy a combined ticket for the Colosseum and the Vatican?
There is a combined ticket for the Colosseum, the Roman Forum and Palatine Hill, the Vatican Museums and the Sistine Chapel, starting at 168, which allows you to visit both attractions in one day, accompanied by an expert guide and with priority access, allowing you to skip the queues.
If you want to know what this ticket for the Vatican and the Colosseum includes, you can read my article where I tell you all the details so you can make the most of this combo.
How much does a ticket to the Roman Forum cost?
Admission to the Roman Forum is included in the price of Colosseum tickets and most guided tours of the Colosseum, so you won't have to pay extra to visit it.
If you want to visit the Colosseum and haven't taken the precaution of buying tickets online in advance, you can always go to the ticket office (there are usually fewer people at the Roman Forum ticket office than at the Colosseum ticket office) and purchase tickets there. As these are combined tickets for the entire archaeological area, they will also give you access to the Colosseum and save you time by avoiding the queues.
How much does a ticket to the Palatine Hill cost?
Access to the Palatine Hill is included in most Hellotickets guided tours of the Colosseum and Roman Forum, so if you purchase a full guided tour, you will not have to pay extra to visit it.
However, if you have simply purchased a single ticket for the Colosseum, it will not be valid for entry to the Palatine Museum. In this case, consider purchasing the Full Pass if you want to have access to the entire area.
How much does it cost to enter the Circus Maximus?
The Circus Maximus is free. The Circus Maximus is open-air, has no perimeter fence and you can access it freely at any time, whenever you want and without a ticket. If you choose to book a guided tour of the Circus Maximus, not only will you avoid the queues, but you will also be able to understand the history behind this hippodrome thanks to the commentary of an expert guide.
How much does it cost to visit the Colosseum with the Roma Pass?
The price of the Roma Pass tourist card depends on the number of days you purchase it for. For example, the 72-hour pass costs €59 and allows you to visit the Colosseum and the Roman Forum free of charge.
To find out whether or not it is worth buying this tourist card, it is best to calculate how much the tickets to each museum or attraction you want to visit cost. Bear in mind that, in general, with the Roma Pass you will have access to the tickets but not to guided tours of most of Rome's iconic sites.
Is there free admission to the Colosseum?
Yes, on the first Sunday of every month, the Colosseum opens its doors free of charge. As you can imagine, Italians and foreigners flock to the entrances to get in for free, so only take advantage of this opportunity if you don't mind being in large crowds.
As a tip, I recommend getting up early (very early) to avoid, as much as possible, the queues that can form and ensure you get a spot in the world's most popular amphitheatre. This also applies to visits to the Roman Forum.
Are there any discount coupons or special offers for the Colosseum?
No, there are usually no discount coupons or special offers for the Colosseum. Keep in mind that it is one of the most popular attractions in the world and that guided tours are usually sold out every day. Given this situation, as you can imagine, it is impossible to find last-minute offers, discounts or cheap tickets.
However, certain groups (such as specialised teachers or art students) are entitled to purchase tickets at a lower rate than the general public. You can find out more in my article on cheap or discounted tickets for the Colosseum.
Do children have to pay to enter the Colosseum?
Yes, children will need to have their own ticket to enter the Colosseum or take a guided tour of the Colosseum and Roman Forum. However, children under the age of 18 are entitled to a reduced price when purchasing their ticket. You can find more details about offers or how to get cheap or discounted tickets for the Colosseum here.
At Hellotickets, for example, you can select how many adult and child tickets you need during the purchase process. Please note that minors must be accompanied by an adult and must prove their age at the entrance with an identity document.
