Step by Step
The canals are an essential part of Amsterdam’s identity, and exploring them by boat is one of the best ways to understand the city’s layout and atmosphere. This cruise begins near the Rijksmuseum and winds its way through some of the city centre’s most iconic canals.
Throughout the journey, you’ll be able to admire Amsterdam’s characteristic narrow houses, historic bridges and different areas of the city centre from a much more relaxed perspective than on foot. It’s an experience particularly recommended both for first-time visitors and as a way to unwind between other activities.
During the cruise, you’ll have access to an audio guide, with commentary on the city’s history, its buildings and some of the most interesting highlights along the route. You can select your preferred language from the various options available.
The boat also has free Wi-Fi, so you can stay connected during the trip or look up information whilst you’re on board.
The cruise lasts approximately 1 hour, making it easy to fit into a day of sightseeing in Amsterdam and combine it with a visit to the Rijksmuseum, the Van Gogh Museum, the Moco Museum or the rest of the Museumplein.
Reviews
- SS.I particularly enjoyed doing this after several hours’ walking. We sat down, listened to the audio guide and simply enjoyed the canals.
- CC.An hour well spent. It’s no substitute for exploring Amsterdam on foot, but it does offer a completely different perspective on the city.
- JJ.We went along with normal expectations and came away very happy. The views are lovely and the explanations help you spot details that might otherwise go unnoticed.
- RR.A rather relaxing experience. I also took advantage of the Wi-Fi for a moment to check our next plans whilst we were sailing.
