Step by Step

The Queen Mary was built in the 1930s as a luxury liner, sailing between Europe and America until its retirement, after which it was moved to Long Beach, where it became a hotel, museum and permanent attraction.

As you step aboard, you'll be able to wander its history-laden corridors- from the elegant interior lounges to the outdoor decks overlooking the harbour and ocean. Every corner retains details of its golden age: polished woodwork, antique chandeliers, brass handrails, and Art Deco decorated spaces that evoke the luxurious voyages of yesteryear.

The exhibits available tell the story of how the ship served as a passenger transport, but also as a troopship during World War II, showing machinery, communication, on-board experiences, and documents that give an account of its evolution and difficult times. Some additional tours allow access to less visible areas, such as the engines, internal machinery or service spaces.

The tour also takes you to outside decks from which the views of Long Beach harbour, the nearby coastline and the skyline are spectacular; the sound of the sea, the seagulls and the ship's architecture multiply the feeling of being inside a time capsule. It's a perfect experience for those who love photography, historic architecture or just something different.
